Panacea

PANACEA is a gothic Interactive Fiction written by loraculis. Made on Twine with SugarCube 2.37.3.

Instead of being a first-person point of view story, the player takes the place of an observant participant, similar to gothic narrators, in which the story is told to you and you have to dig to find all the information. 

The Story

You play as MC, who comes to the remote town of Haelanham in search of his forgotten past, where he takes a job as the “assistant” of [placeholder], a sick young man. Guided by a few words written to him by an anonymous hand, his investigation leads him to uncover the town’s secret; a strange plague is spreading, and it might be linked to MC’s mysterious past and the Great One, the town’s patron god, prophesised to come back. 

Search for the house of burnt and dust, where it all began...

Corrupted blood, superstitions and ancient gods mend themselves in a gothic-inspired story where the pieces are hidden. Find MC's past, the source of the outbreak, and hope to keep them alive long enough for them to tell you what they know.

PANACEA changes perspectives and point of view, going from the third-person narration to the first. Links are hidden in the text, leading to new paths and information that might change your outlook of the narrative. PANACEA will contain Gore, Violence, Medical Trauma, Medical Abuse, Implied Child Abuse, Child Death, Accidental Incest, Suicide Ideations and Implied Suicide Attempts. 

Dig around if something catches your eye, you might unearth some new knowledge. But, beware of where you go, you might not be able to come back…
